5 Fun Games to Play On Your Wisconsin Basketball Court

If you have a backyard basketball court, you can use it for more games than just playing basketball. Playing a slower-paced game is fun and is more inclusive to those who may not have the skills or ability to play basketball.

Plus, you want to get the most out of your basketball court every summer! Check out some of these fun basketball court games you can play this summer. These games can also help you improve your basketball shot

1. H-O-R-S-E

HORSE is a popular game that you can play on a basketball court. It’s a fan favorite and has been around for a long time.

In this game, each player takes turns shooting the ball from anywhere they choose until someone makes a shot. Then, the other players will shoot from that location. If they miss, they get a letter to spell out the word HORSE. Once a player collects all the letters, they are out of the game. This repeats until there is one player standing.

If you want to switch up the word, you can always let someone pick a word or use someone’s name to spell instead,

2. Knockout

This game typically starts at the free throw line but can really begin anywhere. Everyone lines up single-file, and then the first person takes a shot. As soon as that person releases the ball, the second player steps up to make their shot. The object of the game is for the second player to make the basket before the person in front of them can.

If the first player makes their shot, they pass the ball to the next player in line and move to the back of the line. Otherwise, they keep shooting until they make it. If the second player makes the shot before the first player can, the first player is knocked out. The last player standing is the winner.

3. Around the World

The purpose of this game is to go “around the world” by making three consecutive shots around the court. Usually, players start with a layup, then free throw, then around the three-point line. However, you can choose different spots to keep up with the skill level of the players.

You can also decide before playing that if a person wants to stop their turn to avoid missing, they can. Otherwise, if they miss a shot, they are out. Then, the next player takes their turn.

4. Twenty-One

In this game, player 1 dribbles the ball up the court to try and shoot the ball and score. Player 2 is defending the basket, trying to stop points from being made. Player 1 can shoot the ball at any time. If they miss, they have to try and get the rebound. If the shot is missed again, Player 2 dribbles the ball beyond the three-point line and back again to take their turn.

This game is repeated until someone scores 21 points to win the game. In the case of a tie, the point system goes by 3 points for anything after 21.

5. Five in a Row

The purpose of this game is to move as far from the basket as possible while making successful shots. Begin at 6 feet from the basket. You must make five shots in a row at that spot before you can move backward one step. Continue moving one step further from the basket every five shots made.
